About Dr. Malathi
Dr. P Malathi is currently serving as the Principal and Professor in the Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering at Dr. D. Y. Patil College of Engineering (DYPCOE), Akurdi, Pune, since December 2021. With an illustrious teaching experience of over 30 years, She has significantly contributed to the growth and excellence of DYPCOE. Under her dynamic leadership, the institute has achieved several milestones, including an increase in student intake, NBA accreditation of four UG programs, attainment of Autonomous Status, and an improved NAAC Grade ‘A’ in the second cycle. She has also spearheaded initiatives leading to the enhancement of NPTEL Local Chapter ratings, a notable increase in Scopus and Web of Science publications, and improvements in research grants, consultancy projects, and reduction in admission vacancies.
Dr. Malathi holds a Ph.D. in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from the University of Pune and conducted her research at the Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT), Girinagar, Pune. She is a recognized Ph.D. guide under Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) and a Board of Studies (BoS) member for the PG faculty in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering. She has been a reviewer for reputed journals such as the IETE Technical Journal and the International Journal of Communication Systems, and has successfully completed a research project sponsored by the ISRO–DRDO–UoP Interaction Cell.
As an academic leader, Dr. P Malathi has coordinated multiple AICTE-related activities, chaired the Internal Complaint Committee, and executed NBA and NAAC peer visits for several departments. She has also served as General Chair for the International Conference on CyberTech & Smart Systems (ICCSS-2025), reviewer for doctoral work at JIS University, chairperson in 13 international conferences, and chairman for six Ph.D. viva-voce examinations under SPPU. She successfully established the Virtual Lab Nodal Center – 153 and the NPTEL Local Chapter – 660 under IIT Bombay, with the Virtual Lab Center being ranked 1st for its in-house workshop in 2025.
